My semester is already so crunched for time as it is, is dating abuse education really that important?
Yes, definitely. One in three teens experiences abuse from a dating partner. That means that in any average middle or high school classroom, at least ten students will be hurt in some way by a boyfriend or girlfriend. Dating abuse prevention education can’t be thought of as “extra” or “frivolous,” but as being fundamental to the health and safety of your students. [Ending Violence] will not only provide your students with life-saving information, it will also help you meet some of the health education standards you are required to meet anyway! For more information on how [Ending Violence] addresses National Health Standards, click here. If you are worried about time, don’t forget that the length of the [Ending Violence] program is dependant entirely on you and your time frame. Even if you only have one class period, you can still use [Ending Violence] to start a conversation about unhealthy and healthy relationships with your class. Back to top
Is [Ending Violence] a video or a curriculum?
[Ending Violence] is a dating abuse prevention curriculum. The curriculum information is presented through an interactive DVD format – incorporating video segments, interactive classroom activities, discussion prompts, animation, and opportunities for role plays or extended research projects. This diversity of content and inclusion of all learning styles allows facilitators to engage teens to learn about dating abuse and healthy relationships on multiple levels. Back to top
How long is [Ending Violence]?
It’s really up to you. The [Ending Violence] curriculum includes three educational sessions: Dating Abuse 101, Domestic Violence and the Law, and Ending Violence. Each session is divided into modules that address one specific topic (Warning Signs of Abuse, for example). While we believe that each module is important, it will be up to your time frame to build the program to the length that works for you. Whether you have 20 minutes or an entire semester, Ending Violence will help you create a meaningful prevention program for your specific audience.

You keep talking about how “flexible” and “interactive” the [Ending Violence] curriculum is, what does that mean?
Good question. When we talk about the flexibility of [Ending Violence], we mean that it can easily be modified to work with your teaching style, your time frame and your students. Because the curriculum is divided into modules, you can pick and choose which modules you want to use and in what order. You also have control over the amount of interaction you ask for from your students during any given module. Speaking of interaction, throughout each module, the DVD will automatically pause to leave room for group discussions, brainstorming, and hands-on activities. The accompanying Educator Guide provides suggestions for different levels of interaction during those pauses – whether you just want to ask your students discussion questions to make them think a little deeper, or if you want to transform your classroom into a courthouse for a mock trial!

What age group is [Ending Violence] meant for?
[Ending Violence] was designed for middle and high school age youth. Depending on your age group, you may want to modify the program to be as relevant and appropriate for your audience as possible. [Ending Violence] comes with a guide that will help you map out how to adapt the program for the grades you teach. Back to top
Is [Ending Violence] meant for small or large groups?
While [Ending Violence] can work in a variety of settings, it was designed with the small group or classroom in mind. The program works best when a lot of participant interaction is possible. Your best bet is a group that is large enough to get a good discussion going, but that is small enough to keep that discussion focused. That said, some of the segments included in the program would work great for a larger scale assembly setting. [Ending Violence] also comes with a student self-guided session for individual students who would like to explore the topic on their own.
